Books Before Bed - My first book talk entry

Bedtime with my little ones is one of my favorite times of the day. We get a chance to settle down from our day, chat about what took place, and best of all we get to enjoy a story. I have been reading to my children as soon as I knew I was pregnant. We rarely miss an opportunity to read a book. I would like to use these posts to post about books that interest me, my children, teachers, and of course our students. I will also be including activities to go with each book. So look out for these posts and the FREEBIES that go with them!

Our first book before bed is "Mrs. McNosh Hangs Up the Wash" written by Sarah Weeks and illustrated by Nadine Bernard Westcott. My son gets a huge kick out of the silly thinks she hangs on her clothes line. This is a great story for encouraging retell. It is a simple rhyming story that is silly enough to capture children's attention.

I have included a retell activity to accompany this book. The large pictures are intended for a whole group activity. You can cut these out and have your students pin them to a real clothes line and then have them cut and paste the items on their own sheet which is also included.

I hope you enjoy this story as much as we did!!

Happy Teaching!
